Why Tencel™
PSST, YOU MIGHT WANT TO KNOW
What exactly is Tencel™?
Tencel™ is a fabric made from wood pulp (usually eucalyptus), turned into soft fibres through an eco-friendly process. So it's natural, not synthetic like polyester, but also not the same as regular cotton.
Is Tencel™ good for our hot, humid Singapore weather?
Yes. It's breathable and great at wicking moisture, helping you stay cooler at night even without aircon running.
How does Tencel™ compare to bamboo sheets?
Great question, since both are often grouped together as "natural cooling fabrics"! One easy way to tell them apart is by look rather than feel, since how soft a sheet feels really comes down to the weave used. Tencel™ fibres naturally have a subtle sheen to them, giving the fabric a slight lustre, almost like how silk catches the light. Bamboo, on the other hand, usually has a more matte, understated look. Both are breathable and great for our weather, so it really comes down to whether you prefer that subtle sheen or a more matte finish.
How do I wash and care for Tencel™ sheets?
Wash cold or warm, gentle cycle, no bleach. Skip the fabric softener too, since it can actually make the fibres less breathable over time. Air-dry or tumble dry on low for best results.
Is Tencel™ good for sensitive skin?
Yes. It's smooth, hypoallergenic, and resists bacteria buildup, making it gentler on sensitive or eczema-prone skin.
